Ah the dreaded question asked by interviewers the world over, a similar one for me right now is "what are you going to do when you graduate?" and like everyone else I feel like my brain is going to fall out of my ears when I'm asked this. I have a rough idea of course
So I'm going to let you in on a secret; nobody knows
Thats right, nobody can actually know where they're going to be or what they're going to be doing in 5 years time. Sure you can have the 5 year plan; I want to be living here, I would like to be working in this sector. But we can never fully know, we could plan to move to London but get a better offer in Australia, I could want to work in Events but end up as a journalist. Life is full of infinite possibilities that we are more than capable of achieving.
My point is this question needn't be terrifying, we can achieve anything we put our minds to and who knows what the next five years holds. If you'd have told me at 20 that I'd be where I am today I would've laughed in your face. Because thinking that far ahead seems silly to worry about.
The truth is the future isn't scary, its our lives and our own decisions what shape it.
