Fat Hippo Underground Review- #NE1RestaurantWeek

As it's NE1 Restaurant Week, and my chummy Alice's birthday, we decided that we had to try out Fat Hippo Underground- accompanied by Az and Lee of course! They had great offers with a main meal and a drink for £10 or 3 courses and a drink for £15, being all greedy guts we couldn't resist the latter. I'd heard a lot about the great food and was really excited to try so much.

I went for Freddie's Fingers for starters, which are much nicer than they sound- southern fried chicken and hot sauce (though I swapped with Lee for his sour cream!). For my main I had the Stinky Pete burger, which includes my beloved blue cheese on two patties. I had been craving this since I looked at the menu last week so had to have it. We were all so full after those two mammoths but I still persevered and had a belgian waffle. Az had the giant Fat Hippo burger which is pictured above and had to get his dessert in a doggy bag! Seriously everything was so delicious, I was still full the next morning.

Furthermore to the food, the staff were so lovely and helpful, as well as it being such a great atmosphere (despite the gobby twats at the next table screaming for an hour). We had such a good time and were cared for so well. I was so surprised at how little the bill came to despite two bottles of wine on top of our massive meals.

There's still two days left of #NE1RestaurantWeek so you can still check it out if you're local.
