#NEBookSwap Blogger Event

On Thursday my lovely pal Rhiân and fellow bookworm Fiona held a wonderful blogger event with a difference. NE Book Swap was an event that encompassed all my favourite things, books, cake and bloggers. Held at the back of Waterstones in the Metrocentre, it was a perfect little get away and cosy event.

As Rhi explained its like a swishing event, but for books; something I'd never heard of before but seriously wondered why it hadn't been done. We were asked to bring between 5 and 10 books and were given tags that we could then swap for other books, but even then I didn't realise just how much choice there would be, over 80 books from 15 of us!

After a few icebreakers and tea, we got to have a good rummage in all the books. There was seriously so much choice that we all ended up with piles of books surrounding us. Despite having 5 markers I struggled to make my choices, I could've done with 10! It was such a lovely atmosphere whilst swishing, we all got to know each other, shared what we liked and even recommended books to each other. Unlike other events there were no egos as we were all here because of our love of books.

I ended up with 3 of the 5 books I chose, if you put your marker in a book others liked too they got drawn out of a hat (cup) which was very fair. I got Coraline by Neil Gaiman, one of few books that I haven't read by him, despite him being one of my favourite authors. I've seen the film and loved it and the boot itself is very pretty. I also got The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, which I've been wanting to read for ages and heard so many good things about and Cathy's Book by Jordan Weisman and Sean Stewart, which I'd never heard of but sounds so intriguing and mysterious.

I attended the event with Alice, Holly and Beca, but loved meeting Shannon and Cheish and seeing Melissa again. Look at that little innocent angel face man.

There was also a raffle where you could win some amazing things and black out poetry (I didn't win, but I did make it George Washington themed erotica). And then we got our beautiful goody bags with lovely gifts from sponsors Upside Down Presents, Inpress Books, That Gent Mark and our lovely host Fiona who's shop is Badger and Bear . It's one of the cutest gift bags I've ever had. Oh and I have to mention the cake, Rhân made it with her fair hands, and it was delicious!

It was such a great event, I really hope there's another.
