The A-Z of Books Tag

Todays post is a nice big tag all about books, I stole this from Aoife so check her post out too.

Author You’ve Read the Most Books From.
Does Shakespeare count as an author? I'm literally looking at 12 of his plays right now

Best Sequel Ever?
Through The Looking Glass and What Alice Found There by Lewis Carroll. As much as I loved Wonderland I especially love Looking Glass. I'm really excited for the new movie.

Currently Reading...
Notorious RBG: The Life and Times of Ruth Bader Ginsburg by Irin Carmon. Her life is so fascinating and she's so badass.

Drink of Choice While Reading.
I mostly read while travelling so it's either coffee or just water

E-reader or physical Book?
I really love the feel and smell of old books but an e-reader is just so much easier to carry around in my bag and I can read massive books without them hurting my wrists.

Fictional character you probably would have actually dated as a teen.
George Whickham because he was charming and manipulative and would probably have ruined my teenage life.

Glad you gave this book a chance...
The Harry Potter series, I get it now ok?!

Hidden gem book.
What Ryhmes With Bastard by Linda Robertson, I found it in a charity shop and thought it was just a hilarious title but its such a witty and touching story.

Important moment in your reading life.
Reading Pride and Prejudice when I was 10. I fell in love with classics and learnt that I don't have to be the typical girl. Also reading 4.48 Psychosis by Sarah Kane at a really tough point of my life.

Just finished...
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, I'm still not ready to talk about it.

Kind of books you won’t read.
Young adult supernatural Twilight style books or anything with hardcore abuse.

Longest book you’ve read?
Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy, just to say that I had. Jesus Christ.

Major book hangover...
I cried all day after reading Things I Want My Daughters To Know by Elizabeth Noble.

Number of bookcases you own?
Just one at my parents house but it's full and there's boxes under my bed. I've had this bookcase since I was 8 though so it means a lot to me

One book you’ve read multiple times....
I've lost count of how many times I've heard To Kill A Mockingbird.

Preferred place to read?
On a busy train blocking out the world.

Quote that inspires you/gives you all the feels...
"I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that real courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It's when you know you're licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what"- Atticus in To Kill A Mockingbird.

Reading regret.
Giving away half of my book collection to charity a few years ago, I know it probably helped people but I lost some great books.

Series you started and need to finish...
The Wicked series. I love the musical (obviously) but the books are so different and bleak.

Three of your all-time favorite books?
To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Stardust by Neil Gaiman

Unapologetic fangirl for....
Alice In Wonderland, I own 4 copies.

Very excited for this release...
The Cursed Child! Just two months to go.

Worst bookish habit?
Taking so long to read a book. And using really nice books as coasters, I know I'm disgusting.

X marks the spot: start on the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book
A Penguin book on Sir Walter Raleigh that I bought from Books for Amnesty, published in 1941. It's very old and worn and has a note for members of the forces that says "Leave this book at a post office when you have read it, so that men and women in the Services may enjoy it too. I love that.

Your latest purchase...
I preordered a signed copy of View From The Cheap Seats by Neil Gaiman at stupid o clock the other morning, I'll probably have forgotten about it by the time it comes.

Zzzzz-snatcher book (last book that kept you up way too late)....
I decided it was a good idea to read The Battle of Hogwarts chapter of Deathly Hallows at 2am and destroyed myself.

Let me know if you do the tag!

  1. Loved your answers! I feel like I'm the only person in the world who hasn't read Pride and Prejudice yet, I need to change that pronto.

  2. I love this, probs gonna film it - I sometimes use books as coasters too (they're just there!! What can I do, but my cuppa on the carpet?)
